Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus unto all generations for ever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:21
WHOSE GLORY?
We may know this verse. We may "claim" it in our prayers. Goodness, who wouldn't want an answer to a prayer that was exceedingly, abundantly above all that we could even ask or think? I don't know about you, but I can think up some pretty amazing answers to my own prayers. In fact, I sometimes have even had the audacity to suggest my amazing answers to the Lord Himself. To be honest, at times, I have spent more time imagining my own answers in my "prayer time" than actually communing with the Lord of Hosts, the King of Kings, Emmanuel, Yahweh. Forgive me Lord. Imagine, I have an audience of one with the man who died for me at any given moment, and I have at times flittered away that time telling Him, the man who died for my sins, what great answers I can conjure up, for that is truly what it is, to my own prayers. Thank the Lord for repentance.
He is able. There is no questioning His ability...well, perhaps that is a topic for another time. Anyway, the Sunday School thought is that He is God, and that He is able. The issue is certainly not the Lord's ability. He is easily able to do more than we can imagine. We actually make that very easy for Him, don't we? There is another part to this verse that cannot be overlooked, but perhaps often is. Now unto Him, unto Him be the glory. Not unto the circumstance, not unto the breakthrough, not unto the checking account, not even unto the miracle, and certainly not unto us, but unto HIM be the glory.
Do you have a burden; that person, circumstance, conversation, or perhaps merely a thought that accompanies you to bed every night and greets you every morning, and even stays close by when you are working or doing something as mundane as laundry? It may even brazenly show up during your "quiet time" with the Lord? Yeah, THAT thing! Let's be done with it. Let's commit it to the glory of the Lord. Let's take our hands off so that there is no chance of us taking even the smallest bit of credit. Let it all be unto HIM.
Whose glory? May it be His and His alone.
